I have had one interesting week!
So, from the beginning shall we.
I got a new phone. Yes I know, I got a new phone a few months ago. I’ve decided to sell it because even though I loved the phone, the staticky phonecalls was just not cuttin it. I was so sick and tired of asking people to repeat themselves! I doubt it’s my service provider, and am not sure why I had this issue. While searching online for a new phone I came across the sony ericsson xperia. Oooh baby! It’s everything I’ve ever wanted in a phone and so much more! Yes, I’m a gadget freak, and what!? It’s a pda, mp3 player, phone(of course), mini computer, it has a slide out keyboard, I can actually hear people when I’m using the phone, has several cool apps and games to download, and the list goes on and on. I’ve barely put it down since I got it and am so happy with it!
(until something better comes out)

Anyway, I ordered it that same night and it arrived 2 days later. Thank God for monthly mobile phone plans that allow me to get a free phone! *squeal* I’ve always loved sony gadgets, and feel they’ve done really well here. Sure it’s not absolutely perfect, and probably has a few bugs here and there. Nothing that’s important though. I’m excited to see what else they come up with in future versions. The last phone I used through to the end of my 18 month phone plan was a sony w880i, so I’m thinking maybe I should stick with sony. I’ve never kept a phone that long before, and still occasionally miss it. *sniffle* I’m happy with my phone, and am confident I’ll be able to hold onto it through to the end of my contract. *fingers crossed*
Next thing on my week of events is our pet rats. First let me just say that never in a gajillion years did I ever think I’d care about RATS. I mean really, they’re RATS for petes sake! Eeew! Shows how easy it is to get into the whole stereotype thing. All our lives wether it’s tv or in real life, rats are always portrayed as some yucky, dirty and disgusting rodent. I gotta tell ya, these things are sure cleaner than my kids!
I have to make my boys bathe, the rats clean themselve constantly!
Anywho, my son Gemaine had let the rats out for their daily run around the flat. They always get into mischief, especially the darker one named Ebony. Ivory which is the lighter one (surprise), is more the adult and boss. Ebony does all the hard work and will forage for food and bring things back to the cage to eat, follow us around when we walk, crawl up near our faces to say hello (I don’t let her touch my face though), for some reason always tries to climb into my purse, goes over to bug my mother and tickle her feet and so on. Ivory comes by to say hello and then goes about her business. She loves going down the hallway to the boys room as there’s so much to explore.
Gemaine went to put the rats back in their cages when it was time for dinner. He got Ebony, and then we waited for Ivory to show up so he could put her in too. She didn’t show up as she usually does. We waited, and waited and then sent out the search party. The boys and I pretty much tore the house apart, but she was nowhere to be seen! It was so weird that she had just disappeared because in the 10 months we’ve had her, she’s always come back into the living room. We were all so worried! I began to remember the many times we had to save the rats from Keivy, because he always gets rough with our pets. I was so scared he had done something to her! I asked him if he knew where she was, and he said she was dead in the evil tree outside. Huh!? I didn’t know wether he was serious or telling one of the many fibs he’s been coming up with lately. His imagination has been in overdrive and he’s been getting very creative with his story telling lately.
Our flat is a nice spacious size with 8 rooms, which is really not large enough for a missing pet to go permanently missing. We tried to retrace our steps and remember when was the last time we’d seen her. The kids had gone downstairs to a neighbors to play, but they had been in the cage then, so she couldn’t have left the flat. All the windows were still locked, and I would have noticed if Keivy had decided to chuck her out the window. At this point even my mother was helping us to look for her. I was shocked she was worried as well, and joked with her about hiding her feelings for the rats. They used to annoy the heck out of her with always climbing on her when she was watching tv. They’ve grown on her though. Their personalities shine through so apparently, it’s hard not to like them really.
It eventually got late and we all went to bed. I still wandered around the flat every so often hoping to see her or maybe hear her somewhere. I even checked in the building stairwell a few times. The next day we searched some more, but we eventually gave up because we ran out of places to look a long time ago. We were all sad and possibly close to tears after thinking about what could have happened. It hurt to think she could be in pain or that Keivy may have hurt her. I hate seeing or even thinking of a living being hurting in any way.
We were all in the living room yesterday and all of a sudden my mother yelped. Ivory!! I looked up to see a very filthy Ivory trying to get back into her cage. We were all stunned! Where has she been!? Why is she so dirty!? It was just the weirdest thing! I let her back in and she began to clean herself furiously. Ebony stepped in to help her as well. She has a bowl of water in their cage, and she pretty much climbed into it. I decided to give her a quick wash to help her out a bit, much to her annoyance. Rats don’t like being immersed in water.
I cleaned her up as best I could before she tore a hole in my hand by trying to escape and cling to me.
She settled back into the cage and cleaned herself a bit more and then drank and drank and drank. She was thirsty and very hungry. I have no clue where she’s been, but I’m glad she okay and back with her sister. Ebony seemed so sad and lonely when she was gone. I’m also very glad Keivy didn’t do anything to her. It’s a relief to know my lil’ man isn’t a murderer!
I sold my iPod touch as well. I should never have bought it and can’t stand how impulsive I can be! What’s the sense of getting an iPod when mobile phones come with an mp3 player anyway. I’d rarely have used it. iPods are great gadgets/toys, but I wanted more and am happy with my Xperia. I sold the iPod on ebay, and used the money to get my boys a few Christmas presents, which is where the money should have gone from the very beginning.
And last but not least is Gemaine and his many sporting events. Football game on last Saturday, rugby tournament on Sunday. Why are these things always so bloody early in the morning!? Who wants to wake up at 7 on the weekend to get ready in time to leave at 8 to stand in the friggin freezin cold!? Well, us crazy parents of course!
It was tiring, but worth it. His team lost, but through no fault of Gemaine’s. He was goalie once again, and blocked tons of goals. If his teammates had been doing their jobs, he’d never have had so many goals to block. He hurt his wrist during the last 15 mins. of the game, and had to switch with one of the other players. His team scored two goals with him on the field, so I was very proud.
The rugby game went pretty good, but not good enough unfortunately. They lost all their games! Gemaine and one other boy are great players, but the other kids need loads more practice. Oh well, they tried. I was just annoyed that we had to travel 50 miles so early in the morning just to bloody lose. *sigh*
Gemaine was supposed to play in a football game yesterday, but guess what happened! He got an injury playing football with some friends at the park on friday. Not any old injury either, he broke his collarbone!!
I was at home while Gemaine was supposedly over a friend Finlays house. I got a phonecall from some man who asked me if I was Gemaine’s mother. Automatically I started to panic. He said that Gemaine had a nasty fall while playing football. Apparently Gemaine was with his friend and his parents at some park. I thought he was across the street! The man asked if I could come and get him. I started to panice though because I didn’t know where they were and all the streets the man named were unfamiliar. The other boys parents had gone off to the grocery store, and had left Gemaine and their son with some other guy and his kid. I’m guessin this other guy is who I was talking to on the phone.
I could hear Gemaine screaming in the background and was trying my hardest to stay calm. The man said Finlays parents would be back soon and maybe I should just wait for them to bring Gemaine to me instead of my trying to find them. Especially since I was walking and may take too long to get there. They arrived about 8 mins. later and told me they were on their way to me. Finlays father said he didn’t think it was too serious.
I got dressed and ran downstairs to wait in the carpark. I figured I’d better be ready just in case he had to go to the hospital. An acquaintance of mine named Trish who stays a few floors below us was outside and asked what was wrong. I was pacing up and down like a crazy person and biting my nails. I told her what had happened and she was nice enough to offer to drive us to the hospital. After waiting for about 10 mins. and wondering where the heck they were, the car finally showed up. I spoke to the parents and opened the door to see Gemaine. He was whimpering and looked like he was in tons of pain. Trish looked at his shoulder since she has a bit of first aid training and said he should go to the hospital. Finlays mother said she didn’t think he was hurt too seriously, and Trish asked if she had medical training.
I loved Trish after that.
We carefully got Gemaine into the car and arrived at the hospital about 15 mins. later. Trish took my number so she could keep updated about the situation, and then left to pick up her kids when we were safely inside. Gemaine had a hard time getting out of the car into the wheelchair, and had started crying so much he had me crying. So we were quite a sobbing pair entering the hospital.
They gave him some pain meds, which seemed to help and got him xrayed.

My poor man has broken his collar bone. Can you see where it’s broken up top. One piece of bone is actually overlapping the other! The nurse said there wasn’t much they could do besides keeping his arm in a sling. So, he’ll be in a sling for the next 6 to 8 weeks. No sports for him! It’s killing him already by the way.
Here he is waiting for the taxi to arrive. He’s a lot more upbeat here and had just finished viewing his xray again and asked the technician if I could photograph it.

Lucky for him he’s left handed and can still do things. My poor pumpkin. Lord it’s hell to see your kids in pain and you’re helpless to do anything about it. I’ve decided to take up a first aid class as well. I hated feeling helpless and clueless about what to do. I’m pretty sure that this isn’t the last time my boy has an injury, so next time I plan on being prepared. Why couldn’t he be the bookworm type and not the adventurous active type!? Geesh! Now that I think about it, Keivy is worse than Gemaine. Yup, I definitely need to prepare myself.
Good Lord I wrote a lot!
I’ll end it here I think. Good night all!
